Articulation Final13 Apr 2016
Róisín Mullins represented the school with a stunning presentation on Belgium artist Rene Magritte and focused on his painting ‘The Son of Man’. Her speech was thought provoking and highly insightful. She discussed how the piece was made, and her understanding and interpretation of the symbolism. The judge expressed how strong all the competitors were and acknowledged Róisín’s indepth analysis of the painting. The judge was the director of IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art) and as a prize to all finalists, she offered them the opportunity to write a piece for the museums website. This was a fantastic opportunity for Róisín and her fellow competitors. Unfortunately Róisín did not place in the competition but I am sure she has taken a lot of experience in public speaking from the day. I look forward to next years Articulation competition. Also, well done to all the students in 5th year and 4th year Art that went along to support Róisín. They themselves were in awe of some of the presentations and speakers. I am sure they have found a new appreciation for Art and will be more descriptive in their Art history essays.
