The Tipperary Cross Country Championships took place in Thurles Croke’s AC on Thursday 27th November. Conditions for the racing were perfect despite the early morning heavy showers that had fallen on the track. Loreto was represented by a team of ten athletes who took part in the Minor, Junior and Intermediate categories.

With conditions firm underfoot and a flat course, the race times were fast. In the Minor race,  Ruby, Erin & Robyn  ran a strong race to claim the bronze team award. At Junior level, we again had a very competitive team, with Muireann finishing  in 4th followed closely by Saoirse & Ellen to claim a silver team placing. At Intermediate level Celine, Bríd & Róise competed very well to also claim a silver team award.

Well done to the girls who will now look forward to competing in the East Munster Championships after Christmas.

In the junior, Veerle finished 2nd in both the javelin and the long jump. Sophie also performed very well with a 3rd place finish in the long jump. The girls in the intermediate grade also had a successful day. Emma finished in 2nd in the 100m, Ava  won the 800m and Niamh  finished 3rd in the 1500m. Our relay team of Ava, Brid, Niamh and Emma also performed brilliantly to finish 2nd.  All of the girls represented the school excellently in all events, with many now going on to represent the school in the Munster Championships in CIT at the end of May.
