This year sees the return of the prestigious Junk Kouture competition at the Loreto Secondary School, Clonmel. Junk Kouture is an all-island platform which encourages young designers in second level education to use junk materials to create striking designs and impressive, wearable Art.
The following students from Transition year took part in this years competition,Ciara Bain, Lauren Igoe, Saoirse Boyle, Sapphire Proctor, Lucy Kennedy, Holly Power, Mary Kelleher, Kate Power and Róisín Doyle. The students spent many hours inside and outside the Art room sharing ideas, gathering recycled materials and putting the outfits together. Following completion of their designs, their photos were taken by professional Clonmel photographer John Kelly. After uploading the photographs along with information on the materials used and vision for the design, the students are now waiting on the selection process, where they should hear in the coming weeks whether their designs have been put through to the regional semi-finals. Ms. Kirby (Art teacher) wishes all the girls the best of luck in making it through to the regional semi-final.
