Senior Choir: Following a busy first term’s work on exam repertoire, the Senior Choir have also finished prepartions for the Inter-schools Massed Choir Concert. The collaborative performance in the new year will also involve schools from Clonmel to Cashel and in between and will feature a medley of favourites from the ever-popular musicals of Sir Andrew Llyod Webber.
Junior Choir: The Junior Choir, this year consisting of first to third years, has had an exciting first term rehearsing songs such as African Traditional songs. Our latest venture is adding theatrical movement to the upbeat (and seasonally appropriate) classic “Button Up Your Overcoat”.
Traditional Music Group: The trad group has flourished in term one with many new mwmbers contributing their own individual talents to both Junior & Senior Ensembles.
Orchestra: The school Orchestra has rounded off the first term of Tango’s and Cha-Cha’s with the classical piece “Portsmouth” and some festival fun-filled arrangements of Christmas carols.
Competition Success: Congratulations to Clodagh Lawlor (leaving cert) and Sadhbh Tracey (First Year) who both won first prize in the solo vocal sections in the recent Cashel Arts Competition.
Loreto’s Got Talent: This year’s finalists, performed to a packed hall on Wednesday December 5th. Once again the competition showcased the many talents that exist in the school community accross a myriad of genres. The overall winners were: Clodagh Lawlor (1st), The Wanna Bees; and; The Original Rude Gals (joint 2nd), Casey Tsai and Niamh Kavanagh (joint 3rd).
